RBCD Canstruction: The Four Seasons
Ryan Biggs Clark Davis was proud to participate in the 2023 Capital Region Canstruction competition.
Led by team captains, Alicia Moss and Michaela Mueller, our team fundraised for, designed, and constructed a 5,700 can structure. All cans were donated the end of the exhibit to our beneficiary, The Food Pantries for the Capital District, a coalition of nearly 70 food pantries in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady Counties. This year’s event was the first in-person event since 2020 and was held at Crossgates Mall. Eleven teams CANstructed their builds in the theme New York State of Mind.
The RBCD build was a journey through THE FOUR SEASONS. Our cold winters offer opportunity for skiing, sledding, ice skating, and of course, snowman building. Don’t forget your umbrella in spring; this season’s rain showers create fields of beautiful flowers. In summer, expect to see the endangered Karner Blue butterfly nearby. Fall is the season of apples, and orchards are plentiful around the region. Hunger isn’t exclusive to any one season. Donations to food pantries in fall and winter are plentiful, but donations decline in spring and summer. Parents rely on school lunch programs to feed their children and struggle to find nutritious meals while school is out for summer. Food pantries provide plenty of options that are nutritious and well-balanced. Our accompanying signage offered healthy and delicious seasonal recipes that can be made with many of the staples you can find in a pantry. Food provides essential nutrients to fight off illness; it also provides energy to live, work, and play, and there is no better place to play than the Capital Region in any season!
To commemorate our 50th anniversary and to give back to the community we were founded in, Ryan Biggs | Clark Davis pledged to match donations raised during our fundraising campaign up to $5050.50. A huge thank you to our EMPLOYEES AND OUR SPONSORS for helping us achieve this goal.
